This is being written (typed, that is) far too late in the year but let me tell you...it has been one hell of a year! Today is the Winter Solstice of 2015 and I am becoming very excited for Christmas - the biggest celebration of the year.
For 2015 I really had no idea what to expect. Early this year I lost my job to, let's call it:
"the state of the state". It was really shocking because if anyone knows me they know I work with my heart.
I am a seriously passionate person and maybe my flaw is that I expect others to be passionate, too.
The reality is: humans can be extremely fake individuals.
Such was the case in my former work environment; a highly reactive and slow-to-change place. All I can say is, some things really are blessings in disguise.
For 3/4 of the year I've been working for myself. This means I no longer know exactly how much money I will be earning at month's end, and I'm very OK with this.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is take a risk and this year it's what I did. Over the Summer I enrolled myself in a program that coaches people how to start an online business. To make a long story short, I was taken for a bit of a ride but the main thing is I learned that I want to be the one who controls my quality of life; approves my own vacation time. I want to do something - rather - create something that others will find both useful and convenient.
The BaseHead Slowpitch Store |
Something I noticed during the market research of building my online business was there isn't really a place to go for Slowpitch Softball products that stands out online. I know it sounds a bit ambitious but coming from a family of athlete-fanatics and having played fastball myself as a youth and young woman, I felt I could build something really unique.
I would select the best and most affordable Softball bats and gloves for Slowpitch and if anyone had concerns about getting into the game we could build a community of players from all skill-levels that could support each other.
*Second of all, after spending four months building my website and uploading inventory the hosting company disappears without a trace. I used Google to find out the Better Business Bureau has open investigations with them and I know, I know, I KNOW I should have done a background check beforehand but it's too late for that now. And so I am forced to rebuild a website for my slowpitch store from scratch.
I assure you I am working up the motivation to begin again to build the website for you.
In the meantime I have Twitter @BHSoftballStore and Facebook.
Wishing you and your families a beautiful & Merry Christmas &
all the very best for 2016.
